In an effort to build upon the success of the Orisa Community Development Corporation’s Empowerment Retreat, the Orisa CDC has founded the Orisa CDC Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is designed to develop and strengthen the inherent capacity of the Òrìsà community and is geared towards those seeking to build the skills and confidence to be effective leaders and successful in life.

University students and young professionals with an interest in discovering or sharpening their leadership skills will find this intensive training in professional development, leadership, community organizing and organization building invaluable. Enrollment in the academy is extended to no more than ten promising future leaders per class and acceptance is based primarily on the Orisa CDC’s impression of each candidate’s character, leadership potential, ability and commitment to service to the community. Graduates of this course are propelled to become future leaders within the Orisa CDC and / or within their respective communities.

The course is delivered over three consecutive Saturdays from 9AM – 4pm each day. The first session was taught by Orisa CDC chairman Joe Quinones and was held on March 31st in Lagos, Nigeria.

Modules taught in the leadership series include:

• The Orisa CDC organizational model
• Developing a strategic career and self-development plan
• Psychological impediments to success
• Networking for success
• Time management
• Leadership
• Grass roots community organizing

If you or someone you know could benefit from participating in a future session of the leadership academy, please e-mail info@OrisaCDC.org.
