The Orisa Community Development Corporation is proud to have been featured in the documentary Sacred Journeys now airing on PBS. Sacred Journeys is a new six-part series that takes viewers on some of the most celebrated, challenging, and spectacular religious pilgrimages in the world. From Japan, to Mecca, to India, to Nigeria, viewers follow modern seekers as they undertake the same sacred and profound journeys that others before them have taken for hundreds — or even thousands — of years.
Our episode features a journey to Osun-Osogbo, a festival in honor of the riverine goddess, Osun. Each year, devotees trek into the grove following the arugba — the votary maiden who carries offerings to the goddess — and to make their own offerings and collect some of Osun’s medicinal and healing waters. Take the journey with us on Tuesday, December 30th at 9 pm EST (8 pm Central, 9 pm Pacific) on your local PBS station and join us for a live chat at 9 pm EST. All six episodes are available for viewing here and on cable On Demand for a limited time beginning the day after they air.
